Shopping With Cartwheel From Target

When I was asked to do a review Target's new Cartwheel app I literally jumped for joy. Not because of the chance to score some deals with the Cartwheel app, but also at the prospect of spending a couple of hours alone at the happiest place on earth. Target. 

Target's Cartwheel is a couponing app where you don't have to clip or print individual coupons! Although I'm cheap-- ahem, I mean frugal, I really truly hate clipping coupons. I can never find the ones I need when I happen to be in the store I was supposed to use it at. I hate the clutter and the piles of coupons that are expired or just don't work because of the fine print. I would rather mend 12 pairs of jeans than clip coupons. 

 The fun thing about the Cartwheel app is that you can use it from your iphone, android, and from your personal computer at home. If you have a smartphone, you don't even have to print anything out.  I don't have a data plan, so I used the web application to print out a bunch of coupons before I ever got to the store. See how it all fits neatly on one page! Love! Logging in was super easy-- I just used my Facebook id, and adjusted my privacy settings.

 When I got to the store-- I was surprised that my Target now has free wifi-- so I can use my Cartwheel app on my phone without having a data plan. Weee!!!

Shopping was as easy as matching up the items on my printed list and popping items in my cart. For example, I got 20% off everything I picked up at the dollar spot.

And 10% off on all the Circo Bedding I picked up for my son.

My trip was running along as planned until I turned a corner and saw this:

 

Yes... a bright red gorgeous dutch oven. Normally $90 dollars, but on sale for $72.  I felt my heart beat faster and my mouth get dry. It was love at first site.

I checked my Cartwheel app, and yes, yes, yes!!!! All Giada cookware was 40% off. Even though I hadn't added the coupon to my barcode at home, it was easy to do a quick search and add it while using the free Target Wifi!

I'll be honest, I was kind of dreading the check out process because I was afraid that the cashiers wouldn't really know what I was talking about. I was super impressed when the cashier let me know that all the employees had been trained to use the app, and she even took the time to show me a few shortcuts.

In the end, I ended up saving over 30 bucks. That might not sound like a lot, but I would have thought I was getting a great deal on everything even without using the app.

We were asked to show some pictures of our 'haul' but I'll be honest, I only have eyes for my new dutch oven. We've made soup tonight and I already have some rosemary no knead bread rising for tomorrow's lunch.

If you shop at Target-- I strongly encourage you to check out the app! Even if it's just to get yourself some great deals on new cookware.
