I have a brand new Serger. A Brother 1034D and I think it's going to be my new best friend. I love your blog. It is so calming and easy to understand. You've answered so many questions I have. Thanks so much for all your help and working so hard on your blog. It is lovely.

I am so glad that I found your blog! I just got a serger and I don't have anyone to bounce questions off of! Do you use your serger to actually stitch garments together or do you use it to finish the seam after you have sewn the pieces together on your sewing machine?

I use mine to actually stitch most of the time.

I have a Serger that has been sitting in my closet for over a year. After reading your Blog, I'm confident I can start to use this very intimidating machine. Will I have to do anything to my machine since she has sitting such a long time.?
I don't think so, especially if it has been covered. So glad you are getting back to it!

I opened my new 1034D serger today. I read the manual and still could not figure out some of the threading. I did an internet search for help and up popped your tutorials. With your help I managed to get it threading and stitched some beautiful stitches. Thanks so much for you help!!
I've got a question that may sound silly. I'm making a pillow with a 1/2" seam allowance. Is it true that if I lay my 2 fabric pieces front sidse facing that I can stitch the seam closed, finish the edges and trim away the excess all in one stitching?. I'm unsure if I need to still stitch the seam on my sewing machine.

I'm just learning to use my new Brother DZ1234. The hand wheel is very hard to turn and I have to press the foot pedal pretty hard to get the machine to start. Is this a problem?

I have a Lumina 8002D it has been threaded correctly and when we first sew it goes great for a little length then there is a noise and both of the threads in needles snap. This has only been happening since a needle snapped. The needles have been removed and replaced but it is still happening. Do you have any idea's. Thanks in advance Sandra.
Perfecting the serger is one of the problems I had when I started to learn sewing but with the help of my mom and grandmother it had been a little bit easier for me specially if they are giving out some tips on what I should do.

Question. Is there such a thing as a fabric guide for a serger? I am new to serging and my "seam allowance" is not at all even. I've used a fabric guide on a regular sewing machine, and hope there is one for a serger. Any thoughts or suggestions?
