No... I still haven't made any progress on the Leftover's Quilt (hopefully it won't take me another year to get it done!)... and I haven't touched the Josephine Dress either... but my Sprocket Pillows are done! Yay!
Allison's tutorial warns that you can't just make one of these pillows-- and she's absolutely right! I used 6 Bunny Hill layer cake squares. Each square yields 4 16 inch wedges so you can make 2 pillow tops with almost no waste.
In order to make sure I could get the most out of my squares, I cut 4 copies of the template, and used a bit of scotch tape to keep them from moving around on my fabric. I cut them out all at once with my ruler and rotary cutter. It was finished so fast!
Then the fun part-- laying them out....
And sewing them up! I really recommend trimming the 1/4 overhang where all the seams meet to reduce all the bulk at the center.
The kids love these pillows... a little too much! It wasn't until I started taking these pictures that I noticed one of the buttons had already been torn (chewed?) off. I'm going to find some dental floss and sew that sucker back on... whenever I find the button.
But... seeing these smiles makes it worth it! I"m definitely going to have make more of these in the future!
Such a great pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew! It's been on my list for such a long time-- I'm glad I finally finished it. I'm also glad that this week is our first week of Handmade Confessions! I can't wait!
