Good morning!!! A few months ago, the lovely Rachael from Imaging Gnats asked me to be part of her pattern tour-- and I just fell over myself to say yes.
My daughter and I looked at her gorgeous shop, and my little nearly 3 year old picked out the Meridian cardi. I didn't realize until I had already promised her that I'd make it that sizes range from 5-14! What's a mom to do?
I used my printer to to shrink the pattern by about 10% and then compared the resulting pattern to a well fitting jacked she already owned. It worked perfect, and all the pieces still went together just gorgeously.
I also made a few other changes-- I omitted the lining, and instead finished the edges with ribbing cut from the same fabric. So simple-- making this up was a breeze. This was also my first raglan sleeve (sewing) pattern, and I think it came out perfectly-- no stress about fiddling with a setting in a sleeve. And yes Mie, I really wish I had used matchign bobbin thread-- just too lazy to switch!
One thing you'll note is that the card is not pink. As a result, I had the hardest time getting my goofball to actually put it on for photos. After about 2 weeks of negotiations we finally reached a compromise that involves me sewing on a Princess Tiana applique post photos.
Here she is with the cardi on-- (finally!!!!) over her jammies. I absolutely love the comfy cozy grandpa sweater look. And I love the way it swings out in the back.
The great thing is that it comes in women's sizes, so I can even make one for myself (without the princess applique!)
I got this shot of her looking at photos of herself-- it really shows how cute the 'swing out' in the back is. Great pattern Rachael! Rachael has also generously offered a pattern of your choice as a giveaway! Enter below :)
