The Norah Dress

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! We've been snowed in down here in Texas which means a lot of sewing, and not much else. Although I know most of the free world deals with snow on a yearly basis, I came across this King of the Hill clip that pretty much sums up how this native Texan feels about frozen water from the sky. We are very, very lucky that we don't have to drive anywhere-- but for those of you out on the roads, please stay safe!

Ok; enough of my whining-- now onto the sewing.

I was lucky enough to try out the Norah Dress pattern from Hayley over at Welcome to the Mouse House. Hayley has been blogging for about 5 years, and I've been a fan of hers for much of that time. She used to sell sewn dresses, but now she's making her way into the pattern business. (Yay!)

The dress is made out of this fun floral print that I thought would be fun for summer, so I sized up the dress. And yes, I realize how inappropriate a sleeveless dress feels right now with snow on the ground, but in my defense it was 80 degrees out when I made this last week. I really enjoyed getting a sneek peek into Hayley's construction methods. The dress was put together differently than I normally do, and it came together so quickly! Also, the opening on the back looks absolutely perfect; I'm going to be using these instructions everytime a dress has that feature.
I was also able to use this vintage shank button that I've had in my stash for ages. I just had the single button, so I was thrilled to finally find the perfect place for it.
I created a full lining instead of the partial lining the pattern calls for (pink, of course). It would be so easy to make this dress a reversible one. (Next time!) I think I've found a new go-to A line Dress pattern. There are tons of sleeve, collar, and length options so I'll definitely be making this again! You can can see all the different options and purchase the pattern at her craftsy shop.
See you back here on Wenesday-- and stay warm!!!!!
