Can you believe I've never tried my hand at a pillowcase dress before? It had been a long, long week, and by Friday, I was in need of a quick sewing project to give me a boost.
A pillow case dress fit the bill perfectly. I fell in love with this eyelet while visiting one of our downtown fabric shops. It reminds me of those old 'chicken sari's' -- please tell me someone knows what I'm talking about!
The fabric is really light and airy, so it will be perfect for summer. I love the drape...
But I need to work on my bows. The ribbon is some from a gift I received-- yay for free!
Since the fabric is nearly see through, I did a baby rolled hem on the sleeves instead of doing a facing.
And, of course, no hemming required!
All in all it was a really fun dress to make... I left my sewing room feeling renewed and accomplished. Completely worth it, even if my daughter never wears the dress. Anyone else sew for stress relief? Why do you sew?
