Making Home....

When we first moved into our home, my husband and I spent many, many hours painting, installing, re-installing and decorating. Our home was a bit of a fixer upper-- it didn't need huge repairs, but it was in need of some updating. We had a long list, but we were making progress!

Once the kids came... that all stopped. Who would have thought that these sweet kids would cause so much trouble?

For the past 2-3 years home projects have been only on a 'need to do' basis. No extras, no painting-- basically nothing fun.  And we miss it! I don't just miss having an updated home; but I also miss the hours spent shopping, planning and working with my best friend (my husband).   In my defense, having 2 under 2 threw us completely for a loop; and the past few years have been a blur of tickles, giggles, and diaper changes.

Somehow our family is changing again. I don't know how it happened, but my kids are growing up.  All of a sudden we not only have a bit of free time around here; but also 2 pairs of small hands who want to 'hep'.

All this to say; I'm excited to actually be making some changes to my home and working on improving the place a little bit at a time. I love reading about stories home adventures so I'm starting a new series on the blog called Making Home.

Don't worry-- most of these will be sewing projects but I'll hopefully be doing a few other things as well-- obviously my son thinks we need to put more pictures up! It will be an informal series without a schedule (my favorite kind). Did anyone else get the home improvement bug when the whether warmed up?

Oh, and if anyone has any tips on diy'ing with kids around, using a jig saw (I'm doing this next weekend!) or how to prune overgrown rosebushes-- I'd love some advice!
