If you've been reading the blog for any length of time-- you'll know that I believe in the power of grandparents. Both my parents and my grandparents are huge parts of my kids' lives. They are always ready to babysit, or just come over and play. We are lucky enough that they live locally-- but my kids have a few sets of grandparents and great grandparents that live farther away.

Card making has been so fun the last few months, but of course, tinier is always cuter.
I love these mini cards because they are perfect to slip into a gift or to jot down a quick thank you. I've been on the look out for some interesting dies for my Sizzix die cutting machine, and I found one that I think is just so much fun. It's the Zipper Panel Die from Ellen Hutson.
The die basically creates a card that's sealed on all 4 sides. To get into it, the recipient has to peel up a middle zipper panel to reveal the inside of the card, along Palakhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00310823012132821322noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3648769951593706127.post-26726417039894056132015-02-09T10:00:00.000-06:002015-06-07T22:14:41.468-05:00WPlus9 Cupcake Wrapper Die ReviewAfter having a couple birthday parties under my belt, I've decided that cupcakes (trendy or not) are the way to go kids birthday parties.
They are easy to transport, and avoid the mess and hassle of cutting up a cake during the party. And they are cute! Well, most of the time. Part IISo... I'm back with a few more cards, and a few more tips on getting some cards made on a budget.
Tip #4: Use die cuts as sentiments! I was suprised at how in expensive word die cuts can be. They make an impact and are an easy way to add 3 deminesional interest to a card. Part 1I mentioned before the break how I had fallen into love with Lawn Fawn's cute graphics. Although I'm hardly a papercrafter, I decided to try my hand at making a few cards (which is what their products are designed for). And kind of like my embroidery obsession over the last holiday season, it became a fun little craft to do over the holidays when I had a few minutes here and there.

I'll admit-- my least favorite part of pillow making is buying pillow forms. Even with coupons and sales it's painful. I'm cheap (but you knew that) and it physically hurts me in my bones to spend $12.99 on an 18"x 18" pillow. I can't do it. In fact, that's the only reason that I've put off making new pillows for so long (instead of just serially recovering the same ones over and over).

I used this fantastic tutu tutorial from Girl Inspired. By using the gathering foot on my serger the whole thing came together much faster than a no-sew version would.
