Ruffle Overload

I was sick a few days after coming home from California. While I was laying on the couch feeling sorry for myself, I was also thinking about how I could construct this skirt. I finally got up and did it last weekend.
Sorry about the wrinkles!
I didn't know exactly how it would turn out, so I used the cheapest thin woven I could find in my fabric closet. I made one long strip of fabric, finished one end, and then just ruffled my heart out.
After that it was just a matter of applying the ruffles to a skirt base. Super fast, easy and fun. I can see a lot more of these in my future!

Mama Made Monday: Market Skirt

Suprise, suprise this cute little skirt is not for Amaani! It's was for a sweet little friend of Ishaan's. I was able to get a few pictures before we had to wrap it to give it as a birthday gift.

The pattern is from this site (my absolutely favorite mom blogger!) I have a hard tiem following directions to the tee when sewing; but this time, I just closed my eyes and did exactly what I was told.

I had a bit of that blue left over so I made these little matchy-matchy bows to go with it. The little girl in question has the most adorable hair! I really had so much fun making this skirt-- I'll definitely be doing more in the future. (In fact, I've already made another dress based off this pattern!)
